54-Across was a seed for this one, but also, believe it or not, 18-Across was, too. As you may have gathered from my past postings of music on each blog entry, I like to listen to pretty much anything, which includes Broadway. You might be able to tell that from the clues in this one too, as I have several music-related clues. I noticed during my cluing that there are two entries in this puzzle that I could have clued as a cross-reference to each other, with one entry being a multiple of another. However, I clued neither entry even in terms of a quantity. Can you spot the pair of entries?

As always, I’d like to know, folks… comment is welcome! Come say hello! What did you like? What could I do better?

Fun, crazy tough in spots. clue for 12-Down doesn’t match tense, that threw me a bit in the top-right..

1. Was a little tricky there, but I’ll defend its accuracy. “Become” is both the present tense form and past participle form — “has become known” = “has 12D”

Cool puzzle, my issue was just that “Become” on its own does not indicate past tense, and goes beyond simple misdirection into confusion. Small thing, but in a crunchily-clued puzzle (is that a word?), that can be the difference.
“Become” does not assume “has become”, where “been” can assume “has been”, since “been” is already a past-tense verb.

First time in a few tries I’ve got the Happy Pencil. Always look forward to these. Thanks.
