The only negative about big stacks on the top and bottom is that the middle gets compressed into a lot of short words, so it often ends up seeming like a slog in the middle for a solver. To fix that, I paid attention in the middle and didn’t just throw in whatever small entries fit. Sometimes the most annoying parts of constructing grids is spending time in the tiny sections getting it the best that you can. There are so many options that sometimes it tempts you to just be complacent and plop in the first entries that come to mind that work, but I try to resist that temptation whenever possible.
