Last Tuesday’s freestyle solution
Word count: 70
Mean word length: 5.46
Nothing to do with this grid, so no spoilers here, but I have to get up on my soapbox for a second here. I hate, hate, hate clues that make light of mental illness, and I’ve seen them all the time in mainstream outlets. Clues use lighthearted phrases to describe people who need medical care for an illness they can’t help but to have. You’ll see LOCO clued as “Out of one’s gourd”, BATS as “Off one’s trolley”, INSANE as “Around the bend, so to speak”. You wouldn’t make light of cancer in a crossword, so why would you do this for mental illness? Would you call someone with cancer “silly little tumor-face”? So why would you call someone with a mental illness “loco” or “off their rocker”? It needs to stop.

Thanks so much to all who’ve left a tip! It’s much appreciated, believe me.
As always, share this link! Pass it around! New puzzle on Tuesday!
