The low word count (well, for me) can be ascribed to my original intention — I wanted a simple interlock of long answers. The ones I chose just eventually allowed a more wide-open grid design than normal. I was particularly tickled that one of the entries in the grid happened to host the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. Folks, I looked up some of the pictures of these dogs, and the name of that contest is no mistake, believe me. Somehow a lot of them still manage to be cute, though.
